"Anybody with children has or will experience that panicked feeling when sending their little angel to Kindergarten for the first time. After all it is the beginning of their many years of education. My family lucked out. From the first day my child stepped off the bus beaming about his new class I knew Mrs. Shank was doing something right.
Mrs. Shank is an outstanding teacher that
has found the right combination of structure and freedom in the
class' daily routines. She is an amazingly intuitive person
who is constantly adjusting her technique to accommodate the students appropriately.
She manages to give individual attention in the controlled chaos of a
Kindergarten classroom. She is excellent at encouraging the
parents to remain involved and reminds us parents that teaching does not
end or stay in the classroom and to use all daily experiences as an excuse
to teach something. The respect the children have for Mrs. Shank
is impressive. They are always eager to please yet not
competitively. The activities chosen cultivate a constant
desire to learn and explore.
Yes I was nervous sending my little angel to the first day of his long education "career" but Mrs. Shank has made it an easy transition and has successfully planted the seed of school and learning are fun not a burden."
