| This week's MIX 95.1's Rick & Lisa Teacher of the Weeks is Mrs. Kenney, Art teacher at St. Mary's... I think my teacher Mrs. Kenney should be the teacher of the week. She was the most creative, interesting, kind, and best multi-tasking teacher i had ever had. Mrs. Kenney was very creative because she taught art class at St. Mary Catholic School. She always did the most intriguing projects that always kept us busy and gave us a new perspective in art. She was also very interesting because she taught in a way that made you feel like she understood you, but was still your teacher. One of her mottos was always, " Silence is a punishment, therefore I have no reason to make you all be perfectly quite throughout my entire class." That always made me feel like she had a respect for us as we did for her. Mrs. Kenney was always kind. All teachers have their moments, but she was always that teacher to do something extra for you that made your day. One year, since my class was good during her evaluation, she brought in a basketful of Easter candy the next week which really showed that she appreciated us. Lastly she was a a great multi-tasker. Mrs. Kenney has such a busy schedule because she teaches K-8 technology and she also teaches 5-8 art. Mrs. Kenney also is helping St. Mary's by transitioning into the new technology era. She is teaching the teachers how to use Smart Boards, internet sources, and many of the other new tech gadgets and tools. It is amazing to me how she does it all. I think it is pretty cool how great her lessons always were, even though she had to do so many for all the students. Once we made a video for a contest about bullying. We used flip camera technology to make it and everyone was able to take part in the film. In the end we won and were granted a mini laptop. It was awesome! She always kept the lessons interesting and different. With another project, we took panty hoes and slipped them over a pre-made wire model. them we painted them a canvas white color and after they dried we were allowed to paint something out of them. I made a volcano out of mine. One of my friends made a fierce purple dragon out of his. They turned out marvelous! Although I am no longer a student of Mrs. Kenney's I think she would be a great candidate for teacher of the month because I think that for all she has done for students it is time for us to give back to her through this opportunity because she has gone above and beyond for St. Mary Catholic School and she should be rewarded for it. I hope you take great consideration of her. Thank You! This letter was submitted by Giselle Gabriella Garnett Click here to hear the call placed by Rick & Lisa. |
