Ryan’s “Road to the Color Splash 5K!”

Mix 95.1’s Ryan Smetzer here!

I am so excited to start training for the coolest and most colorful event in the 4-State!

That event is the 2018 Color Splash 5K presented by HEAL of Washington County.

The Color Splash is coming up Saturday, September 29th at 9 AM at the Hagerstown Fairgrounds Park and throughout the month of September I’m gonna be filling you in on how I’m gearing up by training, getting my daily runs and workouts in, and making healthy eating choices as recommended by the host of  the Color Splash, HEAL of Washington County.

But more about the 5K! You and your family and friends, while running or walking the course, are gonna get “splashed” with a ton of powder colors through the course.

This “fun run” is geared towards all fitness levels so if you wanna time yourself they’ll have a clock but you can have a ton of fun and go at your pace!

WEEK ONE: Coming out of the gate strong!

And we are off and running! Literally. Kicked off Week 1 of the ROAD TO THE COLOR SPLASH 5K with a 5K run through Doubs Woods Park! It’s amazing to run through the local parks. It reminds me of the cross-country runs I did in Elementary School-except this time I’m not getting a participation ribbon (sad).

Week one included a crazy busy schedule! My business, Ryan Smetzer Entertainment DJed three weddings on Saturday, so I had to really find times to fit working out in my schedule. That wasn’t much of a challenge though! I’ve made a push to get at least three workouts in per week for these first two weeks, and then really go hard in the final two leading up to the Color Splash.

I’ve also begun brainstorming ways to properly eat well while “on the go.” Which is sometimes a challenge, as you can see in the video below.

WEEK TWO: New Week, New Plan?

Week two started off right away with a workout! I’m changing up my routine for the week to include much more balance between cardio and lifting.

Stay tuned for more updates, and I’ll see you at the Color Splash 5K Saturday, September 29!

WEEK THREE: Weddings and LOTS OF CARDIO!

Stay tuned for more updates, and I’ll see you at the Color Splash 5K Saturday, September 29!
